Click here for a gallery of our adoptable dogs. I want to thank each and every one of you who helped with the last dogs that needed heartworm treatment. Now we have some more needing help right away. There are seven dogs but I am describing only four. Once they are treated, we will find their forever homes.
Maggie Mae has started her treatment, she is a pug mix that came into the shelter with a litter of puppies that got parvo and all died but one. This girl has such a wonderful nature about her and is so very gentle and kind she needs that special family that will be hers one day.
Lucas Came into the shelter along with his sister who was negative and they are so very young around a year old and loves people and is very lovable and gets along with other dogs. Just way to young to die because of heartworms. Will be a great family pet.
Lester This boy came into the shelter after he was picked up a hamburger place just hanging out hoping someone would give him a hamburger and a home I am sure. He is a collie mix and around 2 years old this boy had been treated very mean because he had some bad places on him and the shelter manager said he had been hurt and we will get that checked out. Lester stands in place and just prances for some attention wonderful nature about him as well.
This is Lulu. She also has heartworms. She was at a local nursing home and when she had pups they called us.We took them and will find homes but Lulu has to be treated first. She is so sweet. Mary Ellen Tidwell Note from the PresidentGreetings; Remember that family dog you had when you where a kid? Remember how it gave you such unconditional love? Always there to listen to your secrets, never telling another living soul? Perhaps giving you comfort when you felt blue, and cheerful at your accomplishments? Now, what if that loving childhood companion had never crossed your path? What if it had ended up in an Animal Shelter and had been destroyed before coming into your life? Think about the hole that would have left in your childhood memories. We at Crossing Paths are, in a very small way, helping dozens and dozens of children have that special childhood companion, that special friend. We are a Non-Profit Animal Rescue Group based in Blount County, Alabama and we rescue dogs from the local County Animal Shelter, sometimes minutes away from being destroyed, and find them good homes. We undertook this task with the knowledge that we could not help or save every animal we encountered. And there have been great heartaches already, but with the hope and faith that great people will step forth and aid us in this battle, we are sure we will be able to save many more before our path had ended. That is where you come in; because what we do is costly your donations will go very far in helping us save more of these animals. We are in great need of financial donations; however, if that is not possible, here is a list of much needed items: Dog Houses, kennels, Animal Medical Supplies, Pet Carriers, Food & Watering Bowls, Dog Food, Portable Storage Building, Bedding Hay, Dog Toys, Leashes, Collars, Towels, Blankets, or anything else you may have that would enable us to care for these animals before they are placed in their new loving forever homes. We do so look forward to hearing back from you very soon! Sincerely,

An Urgent Alert from the ASPCAIntroduced by Rep. Thaddeus McCotter, H.R. 3501 — known as the Humanity and Pets Partnered Through the Years (“HAPPY”) Act — is a federal bill that would reward responsible pet parents by allowing them to keep more money in their pockets come tax time. We all want to give our animal companions the best care we possibly can, but it seems that pet care costs are always on the rise—and these days, it’s harder than ever to stretch the family budget. That’s why the ASPCA supports H.R. 3501, which would amend U.S. tax code to allow qualifying pet care expenses, including veterinary care, to be tax-deductible. To send an email in support of thisimportant bill, please visit the ASPCA Advocacy Center online. Why We Fight. In 2007 the Blount County Animal Shelter killed 2,395 animals. Please don't add to the numbers — have your pet fixed! Click on the spay/neuter link at the top of the page and you'll be directed to some low cost programs available to all, regardless of income. The only way we'll stop the killing is to stop the unwanted litters. There will never be enough homes for all of them. Donations are needed to continue the spay/neuter program assisting low income Blount County residents and also to cover expenses in caring for the dogs. When making your donation please specify where you'd like your donation to be applied. If you've already made a donation this year, look for your name under the Sponsors link at the top of the page. You can be a "Big Dog" to help the little dogs! Also look at the Donations page for other opportunities to contribute as you do your regular shopping. Click on our link to purchase from Amazon, 1-800-PetMeds, Best Buy, eBay, and a host of other online retailers, and Crossing Paths Animal Rescue gets a small portion of your sales price... on items you were going to buy anyway! |
